* NEW OEM (Marquardt Germany) Micro-switches
* NEW OEM (Panasonic) Relay
Commonly failing components in Audi A6 and Q7 produced between 2005 - 2008 Audi A6 and Q7. (If you have a vehicle/module newer than 2009+, Steering Lock faults resulting from wear and tear of the components being sold with the service kit are very rare at this time. Do not purchase repair kit based on GUESSSING, unless you have properly diagnosed the vehicle using a capable diagnostic scanner and confirmed the 288- Steering Lock - Defective Fault within the Access Start Authorization Module) There are other problems areas within the module, such as internal Microprocessor and Loss of Coding, a defective key, faulty ignition on Relay, etc. Installing parts contained within this repair kit will not resolve your problem if problem is not related to parts themselves.
IF QUESTIONING FAILURE and 288 Steering Lock Defective Fault has not been confirmed, please CONTACT US FIRST (before purchasing). Once the components have been installed. they will not be returnable.
Original/(Improved/Superseded) Equipment Supplied components (these are not aftermarket components of questionable quality/fitment/reliability, which typically do not meet original equipment specification)
The Access Start Authorization J518 module is a part of vehicle's steering column. Module
failure is a common problem in Audi 2005-2011 A6/S6 and 2007-2015 Q7 model
vehicles. The problem is typically identified by no start and no
response from key in the ignition, or proximity access (Start button).
The Start / Stop Authorization Module (along with the Electronic
Ignition Switch) is responsible for key/transponder recognition,
unlocking/locking of steering wheel and powering up all modules in the
vehicle. If there is an issue with any of the lock module components
(actuator motor, sensing micro switches, relay) or the integrated
Immobilizer system Microprocessor/PCB, the module will not provide power to Terminal 15 (ignition on). End result, no ignition and no engine start. The module will store a "00288 - Steering Column Lock Actuator (N360) - Defective" fault.
Please be advised that not all module problems are related to wear and tear of components. If you are not able to eject the key (stuck in the ignition), or experiencing module problems on newer 2009+ vehicle, the problem is likely not within the moving components listed in the repair kit, but other parts of the module. For vehicles 2009+, correct diagnosis by fault read within the module is critical. Please contact us with any questions regarding proper diagnosis.

Please
note that replacement of some of the components supplied in the repair kit involve temperature controlled de soldering/soldering equipment and solid soldering experience. If you are not qualified to work on electronic modules and do not have micro-soldering skills, it is best not to attempt this type of repair. By attempting, you are risking non reparable damage to your immobilizer system module, which then will need to be replaced and coded. Please consult with qualified electronic repair facility in your area re completing repairs of your module. We are in no way responsible for damage to your module while performing the repair.
We offer in house Comprehensive Repair Service that covers all problem areas within the module. Our REMAN Service includes Lifetime Warranty.
